Our Story

When my son was three months old, I started working at an in-home daycare so I could be with him while still supporting our family financially. But as the months went on, I found myself constantly putting his needs aside to take care of other kids. I was stretched too thin and ending most days feeling like I’d failed myself and my son. One afternoon while rocking him to sleep at the daycare, I broke down crying and knew something had to change. I needed to find a way to stay home with him but still make some sort of income.

My mom was the first person who told me I should start a travel agency. I had no idea what that would look like, but I jumped in — taking courses during nap times and working from a small desk in our basement. My first booking made me $70, and I couldn’t have been prouder. I quickly realized that, even when it was hard, this was work I loved. Over time, I invested in training and systems to give clients a seamless experience — one built on care, communication, and trust.

Then 2020 hit, and every trip I had booked was canceled. I spent hours on hold, fighting for refunds, and at the end of it all, I made $0. But that experience showed me what this business was really about — not just planning trips, but standing by my clients when they needed support the most. When travel returned, my clients came back — and they brought their friends and families with them. That’s when I knew I was building something that mattered.

Today, Katie’s Travel Agency is built on care, connection, and genuine curiosity about the world. Every trip I design is created with intention, compassion, and the belief that travel has the power to bring people closer — to each other, to new cultures, and to the world itself.
